Tillandsia tectorum is a true showstopper, known for its soft, fuzzy appearance and silvery-white leaves that look as though they’ve been dusted with frost. Native to high-altitude environments, this air plant’s dramatic texture and starburst shape make it feel wonderfully otherworldly—like a tiny cloud you can keep on your shelf. Each plant is unique, adding a touch of magic and curiosity to any display.
Care Directions
Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Can tolerate gentle morning sun but avoid harsh afternoon sunlight.
Water: Lightly mist 2–3 times per week or soak briefly (10–15 minutes) every 10–14 days. Tectorum prefers less frequent soaking than most air plants.
Drying: Always allow to dry completely within a few hours. Good airflow is essential to prevent rot.
Airflow: Loves strong air circulation—ideal for open rooms or near windows (not drafty).
Humidity: Prefers dry to moderate humidity; not suited for consistently humid environments.
Temperature: Thrives between 50–80°F and tolerates cooler temperatures better than many air plants.
